You have your ideas, and we have the venue to bring it to life. The main floor of the barn can sit 200 people with additional seating upstairs and outside if you wish. There are several different locations for outdoor ceremonies depending on your preference. Talk with Erin for ideas if you need some help or tell us what you want and we will do our best to accommodate you and your dream event!
Decorate it.
The Barn on Heron Hill is minimally decorated so you can bring your own and tailor the venue to your own style and tastes. From rustic to extravagant, almost anything you can dream of can be used to decorate the barn.
We do have a selection of table decorations that couples can choose from … at NO extra cost!
Enjoy it.
Take advantage of a three-day rental for setup, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and Saturday event that you can fully enjoy. Come back on Sunday morning to pick up your decorations and anything else you have used to make your day perfect. No rushing or harsh time limits. You will find us extremely accommodating!
The Barn
The main venue location is the historic barn with it’s towering roof that adds to the grand nature of your event. There is ample room for different table configurations, catering, buffet lines, and DJ equipment. Two restrooms are available, as well as a discrete catering preparation area with plenty of outlets and a sink. An industrial size refrigerator is available for you or your caterer to use. There are two entrances, one to the lower outside seating area and the main entrance that is handicap accessible. Your guests are welcome to roam the grounds around the barn to relax and talk or stay inside and dance the night away.
The Grounds
The Barn sits on top of the ridge next to Clayton Center off Highway 128. Iowa’s signature farmland is your backdrop for outside ceremonies and for your guests to enjoy while sitting outside. You may select your location for the ceremony and can use the chairs from the barn to seat your guests prior to the reception. Photography opportunities are plentiful with the oak and pine trees on the property as well as the Victorian home. You are welcome to use any outdoor locations, a bridal preparation room, and an indoor Victorian staircase for pictures. There is ample grass parking for your guests to use on the north side of the barn and easy access to the main entrance from the residence driveway for setup and deliveries.
